Our Story

Yew Tree Collection was created out of a moment of time that I take for myself each week: a (scalding!) hot bath, a glass of wine and scented candle. 

As a busy, married mum of three with 2 dogs, 2 cats and 2 fish all vying for my time, life can be a little crazy! It's fast paced and non-stop but I wouldn't have it any other way. However, to cope with all that life throws at me, I make sure that each weekend, I carve out a little time for me.

I don't have a social life outside of the home but each week I have a couple of hot baths. It's my time to stop and reflect and not only cleanse the body but the mind too.

It was here that I realised how much scent played a huge part in the experience for me. From the smell of the bubble bath to the scent of the candle, it all adds to and elevates the experience. My own little slice of spa life!

It made me think about our sense of smell and how it can take us back to a special memory or moment in time so easily. Olfactory memory is our ability to remember and recognise smells. I thought about my own life and realised that there are a few smells that trigger certain memories for me. 

A certain aftershave (popular in the 80s) will forever remind me of my dad and when he came out of the bathroom after getting ready and it was hot, covered in water and he was doused in it!  A perfume that I cannot place but sometimes come across, will take me back to my nan and how she smelt. The smell of the salty sea takes me back to the town that I grew up in and the sounds and smell of the sea always brings that sense of calm for me.

That is what I want to achieve for our products here at Yew Tree Collection. I want to give you that moment of peace, bring a smile to your face with that special memory and take your mind to a place that can bring calm and warmth in this modern life that is so often so busy and overwhelming. 

I hope that over time we can work together to create many magical memories and moments.
